Our learning environments

Ginninderra Early Childhood Centre offers a warm, home-like environment where children feel safe, included and connected.

As a smaller centre located within the Belconnen Community Centre, children benefit from both calm, nurturing learning spaces and opportunities to engage with the wider community.

Our environments are designed to support play, exploration and relationships, helping children build confidence and a strong sense of belonging.

Our rooms

Nursery

6 weeks – 2 years

Our nursery provides a calm and nurturing environment where infants can build secure relationships with educators.

Daily routines are guided by each child’s individual needs, supporting a smooth transition from home to care. Educators focus on building trust, supporting early development and creating a strong sense of security.

Toddlers

18 months – 3 years

In the toddler room, children begin to build confidence, independence and social skills.

The environment supports both active play and quiet exploration, with opportunities for children to make choices, participate in daily routines and develop relationships with others.

Junior Preschool

Age: TBC

Our Junior Preschool room provides a nurturing, play-based environment where children can develop independence, confidence and social skills.

Children are encouraged to explore their interests and imagination through a balance of guided and child-led experiences, including shared time with the preschool group in the garden.

Educators support each child’s individual development, helping them build the skills needed for a smooth transition into the Preschool room.

Preschool

3 – 5 years

Our preschool room provides engaging, play-based learning experiences that support children’s development and prepare them for school.

Children are encouraged to explore their interests, build confidence and develop early learning skills in a supportive and welcoming environment.

Educators work closely with families to support each child’s transition to school.

Connected to community and environment

Located within the Belconnen Community Centre, children enjoy experiences beyond the classroom.

They explore a mix of indoor and outdoor spaces, including play areas and a dedicated art space.

Children also connect with the local community through visits to the library, parks and shared community spaces, as well as programs like Living Well social groups for older adults.

Our educators create inclusive environments that reflect the diversity of our community and embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into everyday learning.
