Bruce Ridge Early Childhood Centre

Providing much more than childcare
With strong links to the North Canberra Hospital, Bruce Ridge Early Childhood Centre is a large, 72-place centre with engaging, natural outdoor environments, meals provided by a qualified chef, and highly trained, caring Educators.
As a not-for-profit organisation, we are all about community, and our warm and welcoming Educators embed that within our early childhood centres.
We care about the whole family, not just the children who attend our services. We actively involve parents in their child’s learning journey and encourage open communication and collaboration between Educators and families, to create a supportive network that fosters a strong bond between home and the centre.
Our educational philosophy is based on the principles of respect, responsibility and community through exploration, discovery, and play, focusing on child-centred, self-directed experiential learning.

Food and nutrition
With our recently refurbished professional kitchen and dedicated chef, we are not only able to create delicious and nutritious meals, but also ensure that we meet the unique dietary needs of every child in our care. Under the guidance of the chef and their Educators, children often participate in preparing a healthy morning and afternoon tea as a part of their daily routine. This hands-on experience not only provides them with practical life skills but also helps to instil a sense of responsibility and teamwork.
The healthy diet promise
We understand that food is an essential part of children’s growth and development, which is why we promise to provide a healthy and diverse menu that caters to various cultural tastes to nourish the body and satisfy the taste buds.
A convenient and accessible location
We are conveniently in the North Canberra Hospital precinct and close to the University of Canberra.
Located on Mary Potter Circuit, close to the North Canberra Hospital Bus Stop, the Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT), the Australian Institute of Sport and the University of Canberra, we are conveniently located for parents and caregivers who live or work in Bruce and its surrounding suburbs.
Our safe drop-off parking bays and proximity to Belconnen Way and Gungahlin Drive means our centre is ideally placed for those families that pass via these roads on their daily commute to work.
We understand the demands of modern family life. Our early 6:30am opening time and casual bookings cater for hospital workers who require more flexibility with their child’s education and care needs.
We offer flexible part-time and full-time programs and extended care options to suit your schedule. We also offer casual half-days to help children settle into our centre.

Our Philosophy
At Bruce Ridge Early Childhood Centre, we believe in providing excellent care that fosters a love for learning, play and exploration. We understand that a child’s early years are crucial for their overall development, and we support this with our nurturing environment.
Our dedicated team of Educators are committed to providing individualised attention to each child, helping them to develop their unique skills and talents. We believe in building strong relationships with our families and the wider community, ensuring every child feels valued and supported.
At the heart of our philosophy is the belief in the values of respect, responsibility and community.
We strive to create a space where children feel safe and secure, and where they can learn to treat others with kindness and empathy. We recognise that every child is different, with their own strengths and challenges, and we work to create a learning environment tailored to their needs.
Above all, we believe that learning should be fun, and we encourage our children to explore, discover and engage with the world around them in an exciting and inspiring way. Our goal is to provide our children with the best possible start, helping them develop a love of learning that will last a lifetime.
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.“
