Our environments

Each room has been thoughtfully designed to meet the unique needs of the age group, focusing on creating a safe and supportive learning environment. Our Educators are highly experienced and use different learning approaches aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework and the National Quality Framework (the Frameworks) to ensure that each child receives the best possible start in their learning journey.

Nursery Room

Our Nursery Room is a warm and nurturing space for babies aged six weeks to two years. With a maximum of eight children, we provide an intimate and secure environment where your little one can thrive. Our experienced and caring educators engage with each baby at their level, fostering strong connections and supporting their early development through responsive and personalised care.

We prioritise cleanliness and safety, with a dedicated shoe-free policy to ensure the space remains safe for your baby to explore. From tummy time to first steps, we respect and encourage your baby’s natural milestones, creating a calm and stimulating environment tailored to their unique needs. At Belconnen Early Childhood Centre, your baby will feel loved, secure and supported every step of the way.

Toddlers Room

Our Toddler Room caters to children aged two to three years providing a nurturing, child-centred environment where curiosity and independence are encouraged. With a capacity of up to 15 children, our small group setting allows for personalised care and meaningful interactions. Guided by a child-led pedagogy, we respect each toddler’s unique rhythm, interests and developmental milestones.

Rest times are flexible and responsive to each child’s needs. Our separate sleep area ensures toddlers can nap when their bodies require it, while others can continue to engage in play and learning activities. This approach fosters a sense of autonomy and trust, creating a supportive space where toddlers feel secure to explore, learn and grow at their own pace. We celebrate your child’s individuality and empower them to flourish in their early years.

Preschool Room

Our Preschool Room is designed for children aged three to five years, providing an environment where exploration and learning flourish. With a capacity of up to 22 children, we focus on fostering independence, confidence and essential skills to prepare your child for their transition to school.

The Preschool Room features a large outdoor space equipped with a variety of engaging play equipment, encouraging physical development, teamwork and creativity. Our child-led pedagogy allows children to explore their interests while building social and emotional skills in a supportive and stimulating environment.

To support school readiness, we place special emphasis on lunchtime routines. Children bring their own packed lunches and our educators guide them in developing essential lunchbox skills, such as opening containers and managing their food. This practice helps children feel confident and prepared for the school experience, while providing reassurance to parents.
