Thank you for an Incredible Open Day at Belconnen Community Centre!
On the 16th of May Capital Region Community Services hosted a free community event at the Belconnen Community Centre. The day featured a wide range of fun and engaging activities for the community to participate in and enjoy. The Belconnen Community Centre’s Open Day was an absolute blast that will be etched in our memories forever. From the first moment to the last, the entire day was filled with laughter, joy, and an overwhelming sense of community spirit. We couldn’t have asked for a more incredible turnout and a greater display of togetherness.
The festivities began with a heartwarming Acknowledgment of Country led by the amazing Emma, who beautifully honored the traditional custodians of the land. What followed was a breathtaking Acknowledgment Dance, featuring the talented children from Ginninderra Early Childhood Centre. Their graceful movements and vibrant energy set the perfect tone for the day ahead.
As the excitement built, our Involve team took the stage and showcased their extraordinary drumming skills. The rhythmic beats reverberated through the air, captivating everyone present. It was a performance that left us in awe of their talent and left the audience wanting more.
But the surprises kept coming! The children, brimming with enthusiasm, took center stage and delivered a truly spectacular singing performance. Their angelic voices filled the venue, creating a magical atmosphere that left us with goosebumps. It was the perfect grand finale to the opening ceremony, setting the stage for an incredible day ahead.
The action continued with Canberra Rugby setting up an exhilarating game of wheelchair rugby. The participants, fueled by a spirit of inclusivity and determination, engaged in a friendly and fiercely competitive match. Brilliant tries were scored, showcasing not only individual skill but also the power of teamwork. Laughter and cheers echoed through the air as the game unfolded, leaving everyone exhilarated and inspired.
But the excitement didn’t stop there!
The Open Day was packed with a plethora of activities catering to all interests and ages. The Tiny Tumblers, with their jaw-dropping acrobatic skills, left the audience spellbound. Playgroups buzzed with the delightful sounds of children’s laughter and the joy of new friendships being formed. The karaoke sessions were a riot of entertainment, with community members fearlessly taking the mic and delivering unforgettable performances. Social Badminton matches brought out the competitive spirit in all, while the Belconnen Community Gallery showcased the incredible artistic talents of local artists through an awe-inspiring art exhibition.
