Following on from the signage placed around the Belconnen Community Centre and notices distributed to participants, we are sharing this update to confirm that the Swanson Court carpark has now permanently closed as of Tuesday 2 April 2025, due to a new development at the site by JWLand.
We know that this change will have an impact, particularly for those who rely on the carpark for easy access to programs, services and activities at the Belconnen Community Centre. We share your concerns and want to assure you that we’re working to find solutions with the relevant parties.
JWLand has suggested a number of alternative public carparks, including:
- 56 Chandler Street
- 9 Chandler Street
- 45 Benjamin Way
- 59 Cameron Avenue
- Westfield Belconnen (2 hrs free or 3 hrs with the Westfield app).
However, we anticipate these will be in high demand, including by construction workers, and may not be suitable for everyone.
We suggest:
- Allowing extra time when visiting the centre
- Considering carpooling or public transport options
- Contacting CRCS about transport assistance by calling 02 6278 8124 or emailing transport@crcs.com.au.
If this closure affects you, we encourage you to raise your concerns by contacting:
- JWLand (the site developer) – Phone: 02 6180 0100 | Email: projects@jwland.com.au.
- Access Canberra (ACT Government) – Phone: 13 22 81 | Submit feedback online.
We are currently engaging with both JWLand and Access Canberra and will keep you updated on any further developments. In the meantime, thank you for your understanding and continued support.
