Every day, people in our community miss out on simple but important things that many of us take for granted. A visit with friends, a trip to the shops, a community activity, or a medical appointment can become difficult when someone can no longer drive and public transport is not a suitable option. That is where our volunteer drivers make a real difference.
The Road to Connection Starts with You
At Capital Region Community Services (CRCS), we are urgently looking for volunteer drivers to help older people and people living with disability stay connected, independent and engaged in their community.
For many of our participants, a lift is much more than just transport. It is the opportunity to attend a social activity, maintain important appointments, go shopping, connect with friends, or simply get out and about. These everyday experiences play a vital role in wellbeing, confidence and quality of life.
A volunteer driver can be the reason someone remains connected to their community rather than feeling isolated at home.
Could You Be the Difference?
If you have a sedan or SUV, a good driving record and a community-minded spirit, we would love to hear from you.
The most rewarding part? You do not need to make a huge commitment.
Whether you can spare an hour a week, a few hours a month, weekdays, evenings or weekends, every contribution matters. We need volunteer drivers seven days a week, and any amount of available time can make a meaningful difference to someone who otherwise may struggle to get where they need to go.
Volunteer driving is flexible and designed to fit around your lifestyle, whether you are retired, working, studying or balancing family commitments.
More Than a Drive
Our volunteer drivers often tell us that they receive just as much as they give. Along the way, they build new connections, enjoy meaningful conversations and gain the satisfaction of knowing they are helping someone maintain their independence and quality of life.
CRCS provides support to all volunteers, and out-of-pocket expenses such as parking and per-kilometre travel are reimbursed, ensuring that volunteering does not leave you out of pocket.
Help Us Spread the Word
Even if volunteer driving is not for you right now, you may know someone who would be a great fit. A family member, friend, neighbour, colleague or retiree in your network could be looking for a flexible and rewarding way to give back to the community.
Please share this opportunity with people who are caring, reliable and enjoy helping others.
Together, we can ensure more people in our community can stay connected, active and engaged in the things that matter most to them.
Can you spare an hour or two? Join one of our information sessions to meet the team and learn how you can help make every journey count.
Because sometimes the smallest drive can make the biggest difference.
