ADHD and Autism Assessments

ADHD and autism assessments are facilitated by Wellbeings clinical psychologists for adults, as well as for children aged six and over.

Comprehensive ADHD and Autism Assessments for Adults and Children

At Wellbeings, our experienced psychologists provide evidence-based assessments and counselling for ADHD and autism in children six years and over, young people and adults. These thorough assessments are tailored to each individual and include structured interviews, questionnaires and developmental history reviews.

Assessment Process

The process is simple and our psychologists will guide you at each step of the way to help you reach an accurate diagnosis. A correct diagnosis is essential for understanding your needs and creating a tailored plan to enhance your wellbeing.

Diagnosing ADHD and autism involves:

  • An in-depth conversation with one of our experienced psychologists, and where possible/relevant with a caregiver or teacher.
  • An individualised assessment, as symptoms vary by person.

For adults

Adults can self-refer or obtain a referral through a GP. We will guide you through intake forms, provide cost details and schedule appointments, requiring written consent.

For children

Parents, carers or health professionals can refer children aged six years and over. We will review your concerns, provide questionnaires and assess whether an ADHD or autism evaluation is the appropriate course of action.

Preparing for an Adult Assessment

Before your assessment, we recommend that you gather documents like school reports, list your goals and ask someone close to you to assist with questionnaires or interviews. Your first appointment covers your personal history and later sessions focus on diagnostic assessments.

Child Assessment Process

For children, we gather information through the primary caregivers and teacher interviews, questionnaires and observation. Results are compared against DSM-5-TR criteria and a detailed report is shared with you and any relevant professionals.

Costs and Payment Options

Assessments typically span 3-4 appointments and involve input from parents/carers for children and young people.

  • Children: ADHD (from $2,200) and autism (from $2,000) – this includes cognitive testing
  • Adults: ADHD (from $1,500 or $1,900 with cognitive testing) and autism (from $2,000 or $2,300 with cognitive testing)

We also offer combined ADHD and autism assessments.
