Gus’s Story: Finding Confidence as a Dad

Gus is a single dad raising five children, from primary school age through to teenagers. Wanting to strengthen his relationships at home, he joined the 8-week Circle of Security program.
The program helps parents understand the seven key emotional needs children have, and how past experiences of being parented can shape the way we respond. It also gives parents a chance to connect, share and learn from others in a supportive space.
For Gus, this was a turning point. He said the program gave him “a visual picture, words and better understanding” of what was happening in his interactions with his kids. He feels more confident in his parenting and reassured he’s not alone. Most importantly, Gus has noticed real changes at home – making more conscious choices in tough moments, and seeing his children respond more positively as a result.
