Our Commitment to Reconciliation
CRCS is committed to progressing reconciliation with care, respect and responsibility.
As a community organisation supporting children and young people, families and older adults, we know this work matters across everything we do.
We are working to build stronger relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and organisations, and to deepen understanding across our organisation.
This work is part of how we listen, learn, make decisions and support our teams. We know reconciliation is ongoing, and we are committed to taking practical steps that are respectful, meaningful and accountable.

About our Reconciliation Action Plan
CRCS is committed to progressing reconciliation with care, respect and responsibility.
As a community organisation supporting children and young people, families and older adults, we know this work matters across everything we do.
We are working to build stronger relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and organisations, and to deepen understanding across our organisation.
This work is part of how we listen, learn, make decisions and support our teams. We know reconciliation is ongoing, and we are committed to taking practical steps that are respectful, meaningful and accountable.

“Through this plan, we aim to deepen our understanding of our sphere of influence and the unique role CRCS can play in advancing reconciliation across the five dimensions: race relations, equality and equity, institutional integrity, unity, and historical acceptance.”.
– Mandy Green, Chief Executive Officer, CRCS
Our Focus
This work will take time. We know reconciliation is not a campaign or a one-off activity. It is a long-term commitment that requires reflection, action and accountability.
Our Reconciliation Action Plan focuses on four areas:

Relationships
Building stronger and more respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and organisations.

Respect
Learning more about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, knowledge and rights.

Opportunities
Looking for ways to create more opportunities through our work, partnerships and services.

Governance
Keeping our reconciliation work on track through clear responsibilities, reporting and accountability across the organisation.
The People Behind Our RAP
Our Reconciliation Action Plan has been developed with the guidance and input of our RAP Committee, made up of CRCS employees who have supported this important work across the organisation.
This work has included input from many areas of CRCS, including our Board, Executive team, program and service teams, Marketing and Communications, People and Culture, Quality and Compliance, and other employees across the organisation.
These contributions have helped shape a plan that reflects where we are now, what we need to learn, and where we want to go next.

About ‘Inclusive Connections’
The CRCS Reflect RAP is centred around artwork created by Sarah Richards, a Ngiyampaa woman born on Gadigal land. Sarah is a contemporary artist who has lived and painted on Ngunnawal and Ngambri Country since 2012. She is the founder of Marrawuy Journeys and was named ACT NAIDOC Artist of the Year in 2015 and Canberra Women in Business’ Indigenous Business Woman of the Year in 2023.
The artwork, Inclusive Connections, reflects CRCS’s vision of an inclusive, connected community. It represents our employees, the people and communities we support, the many programs and services we provide, and our ongoing reconciliation journey.
The artwork also shows CRCS’s reach across the Capital Region, with journey lines representing the places where we provide services. Ripple patterns in the background reflect the opportunities, connections and positive impact created through this work.
The key themes of the artwork are connection, journey and diversity.
As we launch our Reflect RAP during National Reconciliation Week, we acknowledge the 2026 theme, All In.
For CRCS, this means understanding that reconciliation is shared work. It asks us to keep learning, listen deeply, act with respect and remain accountable over time.
Our RAP is one important step in that journey.
