At CRCS, our Family Foundations team works with parents, carers and families to support children’s development, wellbeing and family connection.
This month, we are introducing Sophie, one of our Child and Family Practitioners. Sophie has been part of the CRCS team for six months and brings experience as a social worker, including working with families in regional areas to provide support and early intervention services.
Meet Sophie
Name: Sophie
Role: Child and Family Practitioner
Time at CRCS: 6 months

As a Child and Family Practitioner, I work with families to support their children’s development and wellbeing. I help parents better understand their child’s behaviour and offer practical strategies that fit with the goals they have identified for their family.
Together, we tailor these strategies to suit each child’s unique needs.
I really enjoy helping families recognise their own strengths and abilities. I also enjoy supporting parents and carers to feel more confident in how they support their children’s development and view their own parenting.
I wish more families knew that it is okay to ask for support, and that they do not have to wait until things feel really hard.
Seeking support is a strength, and it can make a big difference to have someone alongside you to offer guidance when you need it.
Families know their children and their own circumstances best. When families have a voice in the support they receive, we can work together on goals and strategies that feel realistic, respectful and right for them.
I am a social worker with a background in working with families in regional areas to provide support and early intervention services.
I am originally from Adelaide and, despite having been here six months, I am still heavily reliant on Google Maps to get around!
I highly recommend families look out for a local playgroup to attend with their little ones.
Not only can you meet other families in the area, but playgroups also provide fantastic free play and learning opportunities that are excellent for your child’s development.
