CRCS recently welcomed our Living Well participants, other community members, sector professionals, and family members and carers to our first Speaker Series session of the year: Unpacking the Changes to My Aged Care – What You Need to Know at the Belconnen Community Centre theatre.
With the new Aged Care Act set to commence from 1 July 2025, the session provided timely information and guidance to help older adults and their supporters prepare for upcoming reforms. Attendees heard from key representatives across the sector, including:
- ADACAS (ACT Disability, Aged and Carer Advocacy Service)
- Department of Health, Disability and Ageing
- Carers ACT
- Ageing Australia (co-hosts of the event).
The session explored what the changes mean in practice, where to find reliable advocacy and support, and how community members can stay informed as further details emerge. Presenters Kerry, Crystina, Anne, Karen and Charissa delivered clear and thoughtful insights that helped simplify complex policy for the audience.
Over the coming weeks, the CRCS Living Well team will continue to share updates from the session and respond to community questions.
