Seasons for Growth is an evidence-based change, loss and grief education program for children.
This unique and powerful program aims to strengthen the social and emotional wellbeing of children dealing with significant life changes such as the death of a loved one, parental separation/ divorce, moving or friendship changes. It uses the imagery of the seasons to illustrate these experiences.
Recognising the importance of parents and carers helping their children along this ‘seasonal’ journey, we also offer a support group for parents and carers while their children are attending sessions.
Seasons for Growth illustrates the different stages and feelings of grief, helping children make sense of their own experiences and find ways to move forward.
The program provides a safe space where children can give voice to their experiences, understand their feelings, learn skills, develop friendships and recognise that they are not alone.
Run over eight weekly 45-minute sessions, Seasons for Growth (Child) provides tailored, developmentally appropriate activities and discussions to help children:
There is also a celebration session in the ninth week.
Seasons for Growth is suitable for children and young people aged six to 18 years. We run programs based on the ages of children whose families have registered interest, so that children are grouped with others of similar ages.
We require a minimum of three participants to facilitate a group.
Seasons for Growth was developed by MacKillop Family Services.
