One day, David was a healthy, active father of a young family. The next, a serious car accident changed everything.
The accident left him with fractures in both legs and a long road to recovery ahead. He underwent 12 surgeries, with more still planned, and spent months in hospital before beginning rehabilitation.
When David was discharged, the challenge wasn’t over. Recovery meant attending a constant stream of appointments, including rehabilitation, specialist consultations, psychology sessions, GP visits and other treatments. Simply getting to those appointments became a critical part of his recovery.
Staying connected to care
Through the Community and Temporary Support (CATS) program, CRCS Community Transport helped David access the healthcare and support he needed.
As his mobility changed throughout his recovery, our team adapted alongside him, ensuring he could travel safely and comfortably to appointments. Whether he needed more intensive assistance or was regaining independence, transport remained one less thing for him and his family to worry about.
Supporting recovery, wellbeing and independence
Recovery from a serious injury is about much more than physical healing. Being able to access treatment, maintain routines and continue making progress can have a profound impact on a person’s confidence, mental wellbeing and sense of control. It can also ease pressure on families who are navigating an already difficult time.

For David, reliable transport meant he could focus on what mattered most: getting better.
His journey to recovery continues, but his story highlights the important role community transport plays in helping people maintain their independence, stay connected to essential healthcare and continue participating in everyday life.
Sometimes a ride to an appointment is about far more than getting from A to B. It’s about giving people the support they need to recover, remain independent and look forward to what comes next.
